The crime branch of Nagpur police has cracked down on thieves and burglars, solving nine cases through two operations and providing relief to citizens. In one operation, two burglars were caught, leading to the resolution of seven cases. The city police's crime branch has intensified efforts to address concerns about vehicle thefts and burglaries, with recent successes in apprehending criminals involved. In a notable incident, cash and valuables amounting to Rs6.54 lakh were stolen from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar, prompting investigations by both Pachpaoli police and the crime branch. Through thorough examination of CCTV footage, the police identified the culprits, Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23), who confessed to multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts. Stolen items and vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh were recovered. The accused individuals, identified as substance abusers, are also implicated in cases registered at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, crime branch unit 5 arrested three individuals and solved two cases of vehicle theft. This successful effort was made possible through the use of CCTV footage and effective on-ground intelligence.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered along with the bike used during the crime, amounting to a total value of Rs1.20 lakh, according to sources. The majority of vehicle thefts are reported in busy or market areas of the city, while burglaries are most common in the outskirts, under the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, and Pratap Nagar. Local residents are requesting increased night patrols by the police to prevent such incidents. Authorities are advising citizens to inform both their neighbors and local police stations if they plan to leave the city, allowing for enhanced security measures to be taken.
